Healthy mind resides in healthy body. Good health, be it of mind or body, is vital for a good quality of life. Helping someone in building or maintaining a healthy quality of life is one of the most important and satisfying community services.
Bihar lags behind in majority of the basic health care indicators. It has almost reached the ideal doctor-patient ratio (1 doctor for per 1000 population) but, in terms of beds; only six beds are available for per one lakh population against the ideal need of 300 beds. Weakness of infrastructure, availability of qualified & trained doctors/nurses/paramedical staffs, etc. are some of the basic reasons for poor state of affairs of health services. So, it is important to fill the gaps, especially in rural areas.
